Provider Mapping Manager

Provider Mapping Manager

My Role

Project Name: Provider Mapping Manager
Duration: 30 hour
Role: Product Designer

Overview

I worked as a Product Designer for a client in the online sports betting industry. The project revolved around the revamping an outdated dashboard design into a new and advanced version. It focused on the Provider Mapping Manager, a tool that facilitates the seamless assignment of odds providers to SportsBook event phases. The central objective was to address several challenges faced by traders, including an inefficient system for assigning odds providers, a lack of transparency in mapping between providers and events, and the need for better information clarity. The project's success was marked by the implementation of a user-friendly interface, critical features for effortless provider-event mapping, and the introduction of new columns and filters to improve information clarity.

Goal

The goal of the Provider Mapping Manager project was to create a new-generation interface that would allow traders in the online betting industry to efficiently assign odds providers to SportsBook event phases, improving their workflow and productivity.

Problem Statement

Traders often struggled with an outdated interface that made it challenging to assign and manage odds providers for SportsBook event phases. This led to inefficiencies and a lack of transparency in provider-event mapping. The project aimed to address these pain points and provide a user-friendly solution.

Create a new-generation interface for Provider Mapping Manager that would allow traders in the online betting industry to efficiently assign odds providers to SportsBook event phases, improving their workflow and productivity.

Basic terms definitions

•Traders are individuals responsible for managing and setting odds for various sports events. They play a crucial role in ensuring the competitiveness and profitability of the SportsBook.

•The SportsBook is the section of a sports betting platform where bets are accepted for various sports events. It includes the management of odds, bet placement, and the overall betting experience.

•Odds providers are entities that supply the odds for different outcomes in sports events. These providers play a pivotal role in determining the potential payouts for bettors.

•Event phases refer to different stages within a sports event, including pre-match odds, live betting odds, and settlement phases.

Use cases that the design has to provide solutions to:

Use cases that the design has
to provide solutions to:

Map provider to event phase : As a Trader I want to have ability to assign odds provider to SportsBook event phases in order to allow for events odds to be updated automatically

Map multiple provider to event phase : As a Trader I want to have the ability to assign multiple odds providers to SportsBook event phase in order to have the best possible odds offerings

Unmap provider to event phase : As a Trader I want to have the ability to uncap an already mapped odds provider from a SportsBook event phase in order to no longer receive odds updates from said provider.

Visualise provider association : As a trader I want to have the ability to check which event phases are mapped to which providers without any interaction in order to increase my work efficiency.

Filter fixture search by mapped provider : As a trader I want to have the ability to search for SportsBook events mapped only by specific providers in order to increase my work efficiency.

Current dialog’s UX issues

• Assigning odds provider to SportsBook events requires scrolling to the relevant event

• There is no way for traders to filter the SportsBook event by name, date range or specific provider.

• There is no way for traders to search for the SportsBook event by name.

Approach

My approach to solving the problem statement was three fold:

• Solve for each use case
• Solve for existing UX issues
• Update the interface to new-generation version

My solution

Map provider to event phase :
• Trader can find SportsBook event phases in a list form.
• To map odds providers to these event phases, traders have to click on the unchecked boxes under Pre-match and/or Live columns.

Map multiple provider to event phase :

• Trader can map multiple odds provider to the same SportsBook event at the same time.

Unmap provider to event phase :
• To unmap an odds provider to event phase, trader have to click on the checked box under Pre-match and/or Live columns

• PM and L signify pre-match and live, which are event phases.

Visualise provider association :

• Trader can visualise SportsBook event phases in a list form, with their names, time, date, provider name, provider event and provider event ID.

Filter fixture search by mapped provider :

• They can either search the events by name or filter the events by time, date range or provider mapped.

High Fidelity Screen

Available tab (Default)

There are two tabs - Available and All.
1 : Here Available refers to all events that are available to be mapped to an odds provider.
2 : All includes the ones which are unmappable or are not available to map currently.

Time range filters

• The time range filter provides the trader the ability to filter the event names by current date, last week, last month, or set a custom date range.

• On selecting custom, the trader gets to choose a start date and an end date of the range.

Filter by provider

• The provider filter needed to have a search option within as well the option to select the provider by name.

• So a search bar along with a list of providers that has a check-uncheck box attached is provided. This menu opens on clicking on the Filter by provider field.

Conclusion

By overhauling the outdated interface, the implementation of a new-generation design not only rectified existing UX issues but also provided efficient solutions to critical use cases. Traders can now seamlessly map, unmap, and visualize provider associations, enhancing their workflow and increasing work efficiency. The introduction of color-coded indicators, time range filters, and a dynamic provider filter further elevates the user experience. This comprehensive approach not only met the project's goals but also ensures a more intuitive and productive platform for traders in the dynamic world of online sports betting.
